Carpentier signs with Seawolves soccer
(Saint John, NB) Ashley Carpentier has officially signed with the UNB Saint John Seawolves.
A graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas in Embrun, Ontario, Carpentier earned numerous accolades: the Player of the Team award for Most Improved, Team Lead, and Encouraging Player; Player of the Match in the 2024 Canada Youth Cup in Halifax; Team MVP for the school soccer team; and team captain for the 2024 school soccer team.
Head coach PJ Ward expressed excitement over Carpentier's addition to the team. "She is an intelligent and technically gifted winger who thrives in attacking situations. Her ability to create opportunities, combine with teammates, and dictate play in the final third make her an exciting addition to our squad," Ward said.
Carpentier is very passionate about soccer, saying," "It's a place where I can challenge my mental and physical strength, and has taught me many things, including discipline, resilience and teamwork. It gives me a sense of purpose and focus. Every time I step onto the pitch my mind clears, plus the connections I have made with my teammates in the past and present have made it even more special."
Outside of soccer, Carpentier is actively involved in her community. She helps with community suppers, has rescued kittens, and participates in a volunteer group called "Best Buddies" at her school, where she and her peers spend time with students who have mental and physical disabilities.
Carpentier will enroll in the Bachelor of Arts criminal justice program this fall, with future aspirations of becoming a criminal investigator and joining the RCMP.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Ashley!
