(Saint John, NB) In a match with memorable moments for both sides, the UNBSJ Seawolves smothered the STU Tommies defensively at the Canada Games Stadium with a finishing score of 1-0. Largely thanks to Seawolf goalie Casey Grant-Spin's shut-out showing on net, the Seawolves successfully blockaded the Tommies and bested them in beautiful fashion. Asked later about her exemplary performance, Grant-Spin declared triumphantly, "It felt really good, especially against STU. They're definitely our biggest rival this season." Not to say it was one-sided though, STU's #5 Caitlyn Steeves (3 SH, 2 SOG) and #9 Zoe Vautour (2 SH) both delivered strong offensive performances that kept the Seawolves on their toes.
In the end however, Seawolf striker #3, Scarlette McDonald, made the decisive shot that told the tale when she scored on STU goalie Laura Erb in the first half. Outside of this highlight, the game was a war of attrition which ultimately won the day for the Seawolves. With this win under their belts, the Seawolves are set to show a tour de force in their Saturday game against the Crandall University Chargers. Coming off their loss against MSVU, the Chargers will be looking to get back in the win column with their Saturday showing so, soccer fans should look alive.
Until then, howl on, Seawolves!
