Campbell commits to Seawolves basketball squad
(Saint John, NB) Jill Campbell has officially signed with the Seawolves women's basketball team for the 2025-26 season.
"Jill can play several positions, which gives us flexibility when she's on the floor. Her mental toughness and athleticism will help our team on defense and rebounding," said head coach Moira Gagnon.
Joining the Seawolves from Moncton, New Brunswick, Campbell is no stranger to high-level play. She was named player of the game in the 2024 NBIAA Final 12 Championships, and she played for Team New Brunswick at the U15 Nationals in 2022 and the U17 Nationals in 2024. She also received the Spirit of Troy Award and Emerging leadership award in 2024.
Basketball has been a constant in Campbell's life. "It has shaped me into who I am, teaching me discipline, resilience, and teamwork," she said.
When Campbell isn't shooting hoops, you can catch her spending time with friends and family and going on walks with her dog. She is also an executive member of a non-profit student-led initiative called the Wonderland Foundation. The foundation aims to raise money and awareness for the rising homelessness issue in Moncton. They work alongside and in partnership with the YMCA ReConnect, a street intervention program that provides the homeless with short-term and long-term resources.
"I got involved a few years ago because it looked to be a great cause, and I wanted to make a difference in my community," she said.
Campbell will be studying for a Bachelor of Science with a goal of applying to medical school to become a pediatrician.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Jill!
