Men’s volleyball welcomes first recruit of the 2025 season
(Saint John, NB) Will Crouse has officially signed with the UNB Saint John Seawolves men's volleyball team for the 2025-26 varsity season.
Crouse comes to UNB Saint John from Annapolis Valley in Margaretsville, Nova Scotia.
His athletic achievements are truly impressive. In 2022, Crouse was honoured as Middleton Regional High School (MRHS) Jr. High Male Athlete of the Year. He represented Team Nova Scotia Volleyball U16 during summer of 2023 and continued his journey with the U18 team the following summer. Since 2023, he has been actively involved in the Volleyball Nova Scotia Provincial Excellence Program, in addition to being a training group athlete for the Canada Games in 2024-25.
"For many people, volleyball is just a hobby, but for me, volleyball is a passion and an important part my life," he said.
Not only has he excelled as an athlete, but he has also shown dedication as a student. His achievements include being an honours with distinction student from Grades 7-11 and secured the second-highest standing for Grade 9 academics in 2022. In May 2024, he was awarded the Lieutenant Governor's Education Medal. This award, administered by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, is given to students nominated by their schools based on academic performance, as well as leadership and service qualities demonstrated in their school and community.
Crouse is also actively involved in his community. For the past three years, he has volunteered with the Annapolis County Special Olympics, working with participants with physical and intellectual disabilities. "I have made so many friends and memories. The group environment is extremely positive, and everyone is so friendly. Everybody who goes is excited to be there, and there is always a room full of smiles. Whenever I walk into the gym, everyone yells 'Crouse in the house!' and cheers. It truly is a wonderful and rewarding place to be," he said.
With a passion for helping others and staying involved in his community, Crouse plans to study for a Bachelor of Science, with hopes of being accepted into an education program to become a teacher and coach in the future.
"I am excited to be joining the Seawolves, where I hope to develop and become an even stronger player. The University of New Brunswick has a great reputation for sports and academics, "he said.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Will!
