Charles Denis signs with Seawolves basketball
(Saint John, NB) The Seawolves men's basketball team has officially signed Charles Denis to their 2025-26 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACCA) roster.
Joining UNB Saint John from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Denis is a graduate of École Sainte-Anne.
"This season I've been impressed with his development as a scorer and his ability to make plays from the low post, which is rare in today's game. As he gets comfortable at this level, I think Charles will become a dominant big that we can play through offensively while being a rim protector on defence," said head coach Paul Vaughan.
Denis was a southwest regional all-star and provincial champion in his senior year. "Basketball has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. It's something I've always looked forward to whether it's practice, games, or just shooting around after school. Over the years, it's taught me a lot about hard work, staying focused, and how to bounce back from setbacks," he said.
When he's not on the court, he likes watching movies and playing video games with his friends.
Watching the 2024-25 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association basketball championships was a big motivator for Denis to come to UNB Saint John. "Watching the Seawolves win the ACAA championship showed me how much passion and dedication the team has. It's clear that the program is heading in a strong direction, and I'm excited about the opportunity to grow as both a player and a student," he said.
Denis will be studying UNB Saint John's Business Administration, majoring in marketing with hopes in the future to work for a company or start his own business.
Some of his biggest role models are his coaches from high school. They weren't just coaches but were mentors who pushed me to improve both on and off the court. They taught me the value of hard work, discipline, and perseverance, and they were always there to support me," he said.
Welcome to the Seawolves family, Charles!
